The Center for Innovation and Development in Society

Addressing challenges in global development is one of the greatest moral and political imperatives of our time. Addressing these challenges will be driven by scientific, technological, institutional, and policy innovations designed to improve the quality of human life. True success hinges on whether the benefits of such innovations can be equitably distributed across society. This requires reimagining how we think about development and human well-being, especially for poor and marginalized communities. The Center for Innovation and Development in Society (CIDS or the Center), a transdisciplinary applied research center housed in the Institute for the Future of Innovation in Society (IFIS) at the School for the Future of Innovation in Society (SFIS), will engage in this endeavor of reimagining the goals and pathways of development for improving human well-being through innovation.
